Story:  Rama Rao(NTR) meets Janaki(Kajal) in Italy, to become close to her NTR acts as if he had a love failure and Janaki sympathizes on him and takes him to her house. Slowly Ramarao impresses her. Janaki returns to India as her marriage gets fixed with ACP (Navadeep). Ramarao also comes to India and introduces himself to her family members as a Wedding planner. Who is NTR and what’s his mission?  Forms the remaining story?

Performances: NTR is okay, his comedy timing has improved and his costumes looked stylish with a changed look. Kajal is okay and her performance improved a lot. Brahmanandam is hilarious. Nassar, M.S.Narayana supported in comedy department. Navadeep, Shayaji Shinde, Mukhesh rishi, Ashish Vidyarthi, Kelly Dorjee, Tanikella Bharani, Jayaprakash reddy and others fitted in the supporting roles. Siddhartha played crucial role. Suhasini, Prathibha, Surekha vani, Rajitha, Sudha and others are okay in the family scenes.

Analysis: The much anticipated movie of the summer released today in record number of screens.
Sequence of Songs
First half:-
1)      Sairi sairo ….
Singers: Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen
Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya
Picturised on NTR & chorus in Italy; Kajal and her sisters shared the screen in the middle. The song has some good steps.
2)      Diamond Girl
Singers: Silambarasan, suchitra
       Lyrics: Ramajogayya sastry
The song is picturised on Kajal and NTR, NTR looked stylish, Kajal is cute & glamorous
3)      Baadshah
Singers: Hemachandra, Shefali Alvaris, Geethamadhuri
      Lyrics: Vishwa
Picturised as a club song with item girl Meenaxi Dixit. It looked mediocre

Second half:
1)      Banthipoola Jaanaki
Singers: Daler Mehandi, Ranina Reddy
      Lyrics: Ramajogayya sastry
Cinematography is good; the choreography was okay and is in sync with the music. The VFX dance sequence in the second stanza looked artificial.
2)      Welcome kanakam
Singers: Sowmya Rao, Jaspreet Jazz
      Lyrics: Bhaskara Bhatla
Typical Srinu vaitla Item song, the song lighting and set work is similar to Dookudu song.
3)      Rangoli Rangoli
Singers: Divya Kumar, Sonu Kakkar
      Lyrics: Ramajogayya sastry
Mass song picturised in indoor (sets erected). The over flashy lighting and bright frames spoiled the mood. Kajal and NTR entertain with some mass steps.
All the songs sounded like previous Thaman songs right from KICK movie. The orchestrisation was similar in all the songs. ‘Banthi poola janaki’ looked good on the screen and “Sairo Sairo” is okay with NTR dances. The background score was okay in the second half with “Raamjiii” sounding in the background.
NTR was okay in the role of Rama Rao but the don character didn’t suit him much. His one- liners appeared as if they were inserted forcibly even though the situation doesn’t demand. His episodes in the combination of Brahmi worked well in the second half. His dances imitating his grand Father sr. NTR in the Sangeeth episode will surely be loved by fans and masses. NTR tried out Telangana slang a bit it was okay and a relief. Kajal is okay, she looked active and her comedy timing improved a bit. “Banthi” philosophy is okay initially but it appeared dragging and boring when repeated. Ritu varma(short Film ‘Anukokunda’ fame) played the role of Kajal’s sister and she is okay. M.S.Narayana is okay as Revenge Nageswarao and his satirical dialogues remind us RGV, Rajamouli and Boyapati Seenu. Brahmanandam as Padmanabha Simha is a major asset for the film. His scenes with NTR and Nasser are rib-tickling. Nassar and brahmi scenes worked very well. The dream concept (INCEPTION) worked well and Brahmanandam has done 100% justice to the role. Suhasini, Mukhesh rishi, Ashishvidyarthi, Shayaji Shinde, Naga babu, Navadeep and the remaining cast filled the screen.
Srinu Vatila has repeated the same technical team of Dookudu for Baadshah starting from music, story & screenplay writers, cinematographer and editor. In addition to K.V.Guhan(cinematographer) other cinematographers( I Andrew, RD Rajasekhar, Jayanan Vincent) too helped in few episodes. Srinu vaitla has mixed all his previous films like Ready, Dhee, King, Don Seenu, Namo Venkatesa and Dookudu and churned out a clumsy and confusing weak story line which was supported by huge star cast. So the movie has the same look and feel. In the technical departments cinematography was okay in few episodes but it looked inconsistent. Art work is okay and the editing is neat. The star cast is very huge if you blink your eyes you may miss some (Master Bharath, Thagubothu Rramesh). The production values are very grand and Bandla Ganesh should be commended for investing huge budget believing srinu vaitla blindly.
The script work was done by Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan. They concentrated on the confusion plots which revolve around making a comedian fool with a concept (dream concept here; Reality show in Dookudu). The story is simple and wafer thin. They made it large by incorporating many confusing threads and finally made a mess. The comedy episodes worked well in the second half and saved the flick. Few punch dialogues by NTR are
“Baadshah decide ayithey war one side ayipoddi” (It was used too many times)
“Baadshah ni touch chesthe sound solid ga vuntadhi”
“Brathakaalante Baadshah kinda undaali… Chaavalante Baadshah mundhundali”
“Bhayapade vadu baanisa ….Bhayapette vadu Baadshah”
“Maa Thaatha Naku ee Peru pettindi chacchaka Samadhi meeda rayataki kaadu Charitralo rayataki”
“Baadshah is more dangerous than danger"
NTR dialogue on today’s girls was well received by the Audience.

There is no emotional content where the Audience can connect. The first half is very weak with boring thread of kajal and NTR and with Baadshah flashback episodes in the middle. The flash back episode did not have a strong impact. Siddhartha episode was very brief enough but at least tried to establish a link between the present and the past. Only Brahmanandam saved this weak storyline and clumsy screenplay written movie with hilarious entertaining track and performance.  The movie lacked proper romantic track between the lead pair. Kajal dominated in the first half with her Banthi concept and NTR tried to deliver punches/satires which looked very artificial.
The movie is a treat to the fans. We have to wait for the response of the common Audience whether they are in a state to get entertained, irrespective of the repetitive scenes and characterizations or not. Masses may like Brahmanandam’s hilarious episodes.
Reel guru Meter:
Story/Screenplay: 50%
Performances: 65%
Entertainment: 70%
Narration: 60%

Plus: Brahmanandam, Second half, Performances
Minus: wafer thin story, Clumsy Narration, boring first half

Verdict: Entertainer with action episodes. Typical Srinu Vaitla’s mark narrated film.

JAFFA Movie Review

Review
Rating: 1.0/5.0
Presented by: Multi Dimension Entertainments
Banner: Kiran Studios
Cast: Brahmanandam, Ali, Raghu Babu, Vennela Kishore, Thagubothu Ramesh, Melkote, Ahuthi Prasad
Editing: Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao
Cinematography: Raja
Music: Anup Rubens
Producer: Ramesh Varma
Story-Screenplay-Direction: Vennela Kishore
CBFC rating: ‘U/A’
Release Date: 29-03-2012

Story: Jasmine Falguda alias JAFFA(Brahmanandam) is an expert in escaping from jail. He narrates his story to a writer about his experiences. Jaffa is a software engineer and he is tortured by his boss Melkote (Melkote). He gets arrested for being responsible for his colleague’s death (Dhanraj). How he escapes from the jail forms the remaining part?

Performances: Brahmanandam tried his best to pull the film with his typical repeated expressions but sad, he couldn’t do it. Vennela kishore, Dhanraj, Melkote, Thagubothu Ramesh, Ahuthi Prasad, Raghubabu and others played supporting roles and they have no idea what they are doing. Cinematography (angles) is okay in few scenes. Editing is jerky. Anup’s background score is pretty mediocre. There is no story and the screenplay is boring. The direction is amateurish. The production values are poor.

Analysis: Vennela Kishore who tasted a failure with his directorial debut “Vennela 1 ½” is back with another logic less and insane story. The movie raised expectations due to the stylish trailer and Brahmanandam factor. The movie starts on a confused note and after the first half an hour it becomes irritating and repetitive. The second half is very hard to tolerate. Brahmanandam who saved many films earlier could not save this as there are no proper scenes that establish his character nor entertainment. The Technical departments couldn’t save this content less film. Cinematography is okay in few places. Editing and Artwork are poor. Screenplay is boring. Anup Rubens came out with mediocre background score. The story, Screenplay, Dialogues and Direction are hopeless.

Vennela kishore hasn’t followed minimum basic rules which build a movie. Neither a Scene nor an emotion has worked well. Vennela kishore has failed out utterly. There is absolutely no entertainment. There are a couple of humorous dialogues/scenes but they are out of place. You can witness a couple of Facebook jokes which have been shared a hundred times. One cannot understand what church father ( Raghu babu) is doing there. Thagubothu Ramesh repeats his routine drunkard act and it’s horrible. The coffin comedy is unbearable. The only best part of the film is its short duration and it has no songs. It looks like a dragged short film shot on Digital Camera and watched on a big screen.

Poor Story telling by Vennela Kishore.

Reel guru Meter:
Story/Screenplay: 10%
Performances: 40%

Minus: Story, Screenplay, Direction

Verdict: Horrible Torture. Keep away from this illogical short Film.

ARVIND 2 Movie Review

Review
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Banner: Sri Vijayabheri Productions
Cast: Sree, Srinivas Avasarala, Kamal Kamaraju, Madhavi latha, Adonika, Srilekha
Cinematography:Rajendrababu
Music: Vijay Koorakula
Producer: G. Ravi
Written and Directed by: Shekkar Suri
CBFC rating: ‘A’
Release Date: 29-03-2013

Story: A group of friends go to Dandeli forest (Karnataka) for camping and everyone goes missing except Arvind (Sree). All his friends get killed brutally by an unidentified person. Arvind along with a film Director (Srinivas Avasarala) and his crew goes to the same forest to shoot a movie. Arvind starts investigating about his missing group members. What happens after that is what the story is about?

Performances: Sree is okay. Madhavi latha has been wasted. Srinivas Avasarala is decent. Kamal is okay. Adonika and Srilekha provided the required glamour. Benerjee and surya fitted in their roles. The Cinematography is top class. Music by Vijay is loud and dominated the scenes many times. Art work and editing are okay. Story is simple but the way it was narrated is okay to some extent. The Direction is good in few places. The production values are good.

Analysis: The Director Shekkar Suri who gained every one’s attention with the thriller ‘A FILM By ARVIND’ came up with another thriller. The frames and Locations are similar to his earlier thriller with fearful loud re-recording and two glamorous dolls for the oomph factor. The movie is lengthy and thrillers need to be crisp to draw more attention. Some Scenes are lengthy and appeared dragged, some are repetitive. The opening killings set a mood for the film and once the story gets revealed the narration falls flat. Sree being chased by the goons in Goa was dragged to the extreme.

Sree is okay in the role of the lead actor, he suited to the role. He definitely needs dubbing if he wants to continue acting in films. Kamal Kamaraju is good, he performed reasonably well. Srinivas Avasarala is subtle in expressions and dialogues. Madhavi latha got a poorly etched role. She has only one expression (looking feared) throughout. It has been long time she appeared on the screen. Adonika is hot in the song picturised on Kamal near the beach. Srilekha provided the required glamour. The remaining actors are okay.

The Technical departments have done fairly good job. Cinematography by Rajendrababu is exceptionally well. The Camera angles are creative and take the audience into the thriller mood. Editing is okay but could have taken care of length (153 minutes), its bit lengthy. Art work is good with mostly outdoor locations in the jungle.  The story is simple but the director filled it with ‘n’ number of killings. The Director is heavily inspired from Hollywood flicks and tried to narrate it in Indian style. The bloodshed and killings is too much to bear at a point. Violence is at its peak in the second half. The Lack of Suspense and insufficient reason/logic behind the killings is a letdown. Shekkar suri has succeeded in making the Audience glue to their seats till the end but if only the second half could have been better this thriller could have turned into an interesting treat.

Reel Guru Meter:
Story/Screenplay: 50%
Performances: 60%
Entertainment: 20%
Narration: 60%

This is not a better work from the Director who has given a seat edge thriller earlier. If you are thriller movie lover then give a try, watch the movie with less expectations to enjoy more.

Plus: Cinematography, some thrills
Minus: Story, Violence, repetitive scenes

Verdict: Below Average Thriller

Cinematography: Richard Prasad
Music: Sunny
Producer: Chakri Chigurupati
Story-Screenplay-Dialogues-Direction: Sudheer Varma
CBFC rating: ‘U/A’
Release date: 23-03-2013

Story: Surya (Nikhil) is a petty thief; he along with two of his team members does small time robberies. A precious idol from Padmanabhaswamy temple, Thiruvananthapuram gets stolen and it travels from one hand to another and finally reaches Hyderabad. Surya falls in love with Swathi (Swathi) a journalist. The idol comes to the hands of Surya and his team and a gangster Shankar is after them, what happens after that and how the chase ends up forms the story?

Performances: Nikhil was good, he underplayed the role well and suited to character of sophisticated thief. Swathi was cute and bubbly. Pooja and Ravi babu are okay. The remaining cast fitted well in their roles. Art work was okay. Editing was fine. Cinematography was good. Music by Sunny was very much helpful for the movie. The story is simple and the screenplay was interesting at times. The Direction was good.

Analysis: Nikhil was good, his look was completely changed and he hasn’t done his mark over action (imitating Raviteja), a lot of transformation can be seen in his action and diction. He underplayed the role well. Swathi was cute and good. She suited to the role well. Nikhil and Swathi were paired up for the first time and the on screen Chemistry between the pair is good. Their timing was perfect in most of the scenes. Pooja Ramachandran, SS Music anchor who earlier appeared in Pizza Movie was apt for the role and she has done justice to it. Ravi Babu has done typical gangster role and he was good. Jeeva and other supporting cast were okay. The Production values are low but the technicians made it look grand.
Art work was fine and the Editing was crisp at times. The Cinematography is good. Some angles were creative. Some chasing scenes were shot on Digital camera and they looked reasonably good after DI. Music provided by the first timer Sunny has got good appreciation for classiness and different orchestration. The songs were in sync of the film’s mood. The Music literally lifted some scenes. The Background score was good.
The Director was heavily inspired from Ramgopal varma’s flicks like Kshana Kshanam, Anaganaga Oka Roju, Daud, Money, Govinda Govinda etc; the narrative style was also similar in most scenes. The debutant director succeeded in pulling off the film with strong technical crew. Even though most of the scenes were inspired/ copied from past hit films. The Director should be lauded for admitting the truth by putting a note in the start of the film that he copies the scenes from the films that impress him. He narrated a serious subject with lively and fresh scenes, a love thread in between and subtle humour. The technicians helped in giving a class touch. The crew is fresh and young and most of them were debutants as a result kind of rawness was visible in many scenes.
The movie starts with the voice over of Nara Rohith. The Jogi brothers’ scene was impressive. The first half was good with racy narration and subtle love. The second half has lags in few episodes. The climax and the pre-climax was stretched a bit, it may bore you. The Movie appeals to ‘A’ centers and Multiplexes. We have to wait for the response of the masses to know the actual Box office stamina.

Reel guru Meter:
Story/screenplay: 60%
Performances: 70%

PIZZA

Review

Presented by: Charita Chitra

Banner: SK Pictures/ Coffees Cinema

Cast: Vijay Sethupathy, Ramya Nambeesan, Pooja

Dialogues-Lyrics: Sahithi

Editing: Leo John Paul

Cinematography: Gopi Amarnath

Music: Santosh Narayanan

Producer: Suresh Kondeti

Written and Directed by: Karthik Subbaraj

CBFC Rating: ‘U/A’

Release Date: 15-02-2013

Story: Micheal (Vijay Sethupathy) and Anu (Remya) are orphans and childhood friends. They come out of the orphanage and live together. Micheal works as a delivery boy in a Pizza spot. Anu is doing a research on ghosts, as she is writing a novel involving ghosts. Anu becomes pregnant and they get married. One day Micheal goes to deliver a pizza into a haunted house... Which changes his life…What happens there? Forms the remaining plot?

Performances: Vijay Sethupathy looked apt for the role of Pizza Delivery boy. He has done fantastic job as an actor. Ramya is okay and she has put on a lot of weight. The remaining artists supported well with good performances. The story is good. The screenplay is interesting and the narration is gripping. Music enhanced the scenes, the Background score is good. Cinematography is good and the editing is fine. The production values are low.

Analysis: This film actually falls into the romantic suspense thriller genre. The movie starts off with the chemistry between the couple, their understanding and their life style and then slowly picks up momentum once the characters are well established. I don’t want to reveal much about the plot or the scenes as you miss the thrill in the theaters.

Vijay is okay looks wise, he resembles a typical pizza boy. His body language is apt; he performed very well once he gets scared after watching the ghosts. Ramya Nambeesan(acted in Andamaina Manasulo, Sarai Veerraju, Nuvvila) looks like girls next door. Her make-up is patchy. She played her part effectively. The chemistry between the lead pair worked well on the screen; they looked sweet. SS Music VJ Pooja Played a Crucial role. Sivaji dubbed his voice for Vijay and Nagendra babu has lent his voice for the Pizza Shop owner.

The film is very sound in the technical departments. The Cinematography is very good. The frames looked rich even in poor light(torch light) also. Most of the film was shot in the night effect only. Music is also a big plus. The Background score elevated all the thrilling bits.

The first half is bit slow (Initial portion) and the concept of living together may not be liked by all. The last ten minutes have all the answers to the questions that arise in the minds of the Audience. The screenplay is very tight and leaves no loose ends and the Direction is near to flawless. Thrillers can only be enjoyed more with tight scripts and this film has exactly that. The sound effects can be enjoyed more in a theater well equipped with latest 7.1 Surround sound.

Movie Meter:

Story/Screenplay: 70%

Performances: 70%

Entertainment: 40%

Narration: 70%

The movie not only appeals to the multiplexes but this thriller can do well with the masses also.

Overall Pizza is worth watching with family.

Plus: Performances, Screenplay, Cinematography, Direction.

Minus: Slow initial first half

Verdict: Pizza is a perfect thriller to be watched this weekend…..Pizza - Your moment is waiting!

Editing: Nagi reddy

Cinematography: Ranganath Gogineni

Music: Kiran Varanasi

Producer: Master Bujji babu

CBFC rating: ‘U/A’

Release date: 15-02-2013

Story: Communications lecturer Apparao(Shayaji Shinde) narrates a love story from his college to an aspiring film director Kishore(Avasarala Srinivas). Shyam(Varun Sandesh) and Anshu(Sanchita) are friends and they slowly fall in love. With the blessings of their elders they get engaged and their marriage gets called off for unknown reasons. What happened actually? Will the love story end on a happy note forms the plot?

Performances: Varun Sandesh is okay, he has been type casted in such college love stories these days. Sanchita is okay in some angles with a cute smile. Catherine is glamorous. Shayaji shinde is okay as lecturer. Srinivas Avasarala and Vennela kishore were apt in their roles. Art work is mediocre. Editing could have been better. Cinematography is poor quality. Music is Average. The story is routine but narration was good to some extent. The direction is just okay.

Analysis: Varun has come up with yet another love story in the college backdrop. His hair style and his accent need be changed immediately. He was bit repetitive in few scenes. Sanchita is okay in looks, she has cute smile but she may not suit for commercial roles. Performance wise she is okay. Catherina suited to the role of dream girl of the hero. She is cute and glamorous. She brings some momentum in the story. Shayaji Shinde as lecturer was okay. Srinivas was decent. Vennela Kishore evoked some laughs in the second half. Brahmaji played the role of hero’s father and looked young for the role. The remaining supporting cast is okay.

Art work is not up to the mark and the editing could have been better. There are many boring and slow paced scenes. Cinematography is of very poor quality. Music is Average with a couple of good songs. "Chandamamalo Kundelaa" stands on top with nice beat and lyrics. The Background sore is mediocre. The story is simple with no strong emotional depth. The screenplay format (splitting it into two parts) is good. The direction is good in few scenes. The production values are okay.

The screenplay magician Neelekanta is back with a youthful love story. This time he hasn’t shown any brilliance in Screenplay but has come up with good one. The narration is very slow and some scenes lacked maturity. You even wonder in the middle of the flick …Is this really directed by Neelakanta….????? The Direction was also very mediocre in most of the places.

The movie is targeted at ‘A’ centers only. The slow paced narration and romantic love feel which is essential for a love story is missing. The lack of good amount of entertainment is a big minus.

Movie Meter:

Story/Screenplay: 60%

Performances: 60%

Entertainment: 30%

Narration: 50%

Plus: Screenplay, Catherina Tresa

Minus: Slow Narration, entertainment,

Verdict: Below Average, Disappointing flick from a National Award winning director.

Review
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Banner: Gulabi Movies
Cast: Nara Rohith, Nitya Menon, Sai Kumar, Srinivas Reddy, Brahmanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sudha, Benerjee, Ali, M.S.Narayana
Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry, Chaitanya Krishna, Sahithi, Bhaskara Bhatla
Story-Dialogues: Chintapalli  Ramana
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh
Cinematography: Andrew
Music: Karthik
Producer: C.V.Reddy
Screenplay-Direction: Srinivas Raga
CBFC Rating: ‘U/A’
Release Date: 14-02-2013

Story: Anjali (Nitya Menon) is daughter of a rich Businessman Shivaji (Sai Kumar). Anjali comes to India to spend time with his father. Shivaji leaves for an abroad tour. Anjali plans for a vacation in Vizag with her friend. Anjali meets Surya (Nara Rohith) and his caring family in a Hill station near Vizag. Surya falls in love with Anjali and proposes her. How does she react to it? What happened after that forms the remaining part of the story.

Performances: Rohith Nara is adequate, he performed reasonably okay. Nitya Menon is good. She is at ease while performing the role. Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sudha, Srinivasa Reddy are okay. Sai Kumar is okay as father of heroine. Brahmanandam couldn’t evoke laughs. Ali and MS were wasted. Cinematography is shaky at times. Editing and Art work are okay. Music by karthik was below Average. Story is simple the screenplay and narration are confusing and doesn’t fit the commercial format. The Production values are Average.

Analysis: The Director of thriller movie KATHA (Genelia, Prakash Raj) has come up with another one. Srinivas Raga tried to provide a family oriented (at least elements) angle which he missed in his previous flick. This film also has a twist but it’s not convincing. The director followed the same format of his earlier flick with stretched scenes.

Rohith is okay, this time he tried an action oriented role and he has to work a lot on his physic (looks fat in many frames) to sustain in the industry. Modulation in his voice is needed which can fit to mass/ action flicks. Nitya Menon once again impresses with her performance in a soft and sweet role. She is expressive and conveys all the subtle emotions with eyes. Kota Srinivas is good and Sudha is okay (even though it appeared overboard). Srinivasa Reddy and Nara Rohith Combination is back after SOLO movie, Srinivas Reddy is okay with his typical satirical punches but couldn’t evoke much laughs. Rachana Mourya sizzles in the remix song “Puttintollu Tharimesaaru”.

Cinematography is okay (could have been better). The hill station atmosphere and locations were well covered but it’s too jerky in crucial scenes. Art work is fine. The editing is okay. ‘Hola Hola’ Song has cool visuals The Singer turned Music director Karthik has given below Average music with a haunting melody “Dole Dole”; the song was picturised well too. The Background score is passable. The production values are just okay. The Fight Sequences are choreographed well but they looked very cheap (at few places) in terms of standards. Dialogues are okay, Chintapalli Ramana has come up with his strong dosage lecture type dialogues--- “Prema valla oka Vinasanam jarigindi…..Dhanni cheppataniki prayatnam chesaanu ….. Dhanivalla kooda oka prema puttindi”.  Naga babu’s fight towards the climax got good response in the theater.

The movie lacks Entertainment. It starts slowly and progresses at very slow pace; later it gives the feel of a family flick. The second half is more predictable and lacks the essential elements. The twists are okay to some extent but the film falls flat in narration after that. The movie may not be liked by ‘A’ centers. We have to wait for the response of masses who will decide the fate of the film at the BOX-OFFICE.

Movie Meter:
Story/Screenplay: 50%
Performances: 60%
Entertainment: 20%
Narration: 50%

Plus: Nitya Menon, Screenplay (only the format), performances
Minus: Entertainment, Music, Narration

Verdict: Below Average revenge Flick which lacked the punch.
