Story:
Rama Rao(NTR) meets Janaki(Kajal) in
Italy, to become close to her NTR acts as if he had a love failure and Janaki
sympathizes on him and takes him to her house. Slowly Ramarao impresses her.
Janaki returns to India as her marriage gets fixed with ACP (Navadeep). Ramarao
also comes to India and introduces himself to her family members as a Wedding
planner. Who is NTR and what’s his mission? Forms the remaining story?
Performances:
NTR is okay, his comedy timing has improved and his costumes looked stylish
with a changed look. Kajal is okay and her performance improved a lot. Brahmanandam
is hilarious. Nassar, M.S.Narayana supported in comedy department. Navadeep, Shayaji
Shinde, Mukhesh rishi, Ashish Vidyarthi, Kelly Dorjee, Tanikella Bharani,
Jayaprakash reddy and others fitted in the supporting roles. Siddhartha played
crucial role. Suhasini, Prathibha, Surekha vani, Rajitha, Sudha and others are
okay in the family scenes.
Analysis:
The
much anticipated movie of the summer released today in record number of
screens.
Sequence of Songs
First
half:-
1) Sairi
sairo ….
Singers: Ranjith, Rahul
Nambiar, Naveen
Lyrics: Krishna
Chaitanya
Picturised on NTR & chorus in Italy; Kajal and
her sisters shared the screen in the middle. The song has some good steps.
2) Diamond
Girl
Singers: Silambarasan,
suchitra
Lyrics:
Ramajogayya sastry
The song is picturised on Kajal and NTR, NTR looked
stylish, Kajal is cute & glamorous
3) Baadshah
Singers: Hemachandra,
Shefali Alvaris, Geethamadhuri
Lyrics:
Vishwa
Picturised as a club song with item girl Meenaxi
Dixit. It looked mediocre
Second
half:
1) Banthipoola
Jaanaki
Singers: Daler Mehandi,
Ranina Reddy
Lyrics:
Ramajogayya sastry
Cinematography is good; the choreography was okay
and is in sync with the music. The VFX dance sequence in the second stanza
looked artificial.
2) Welcome
kanakam
Singers: Sowmya Rao,
Jaspreet Jazz
Lyrics:
Bhaskara Bhatla
Typical Srinu vaitla Item song, the song lighting
and set work is similar to Dookudu song.
3) Rangoli
Rangoli
Singers: Divya Kumar,
Sonu Kakkar
Lyrics:
Ramajogayya sastry
Mass song picturised in indoor (sets erected). The
over flashy lighting and bright frames spoiled the mood. Kajal and NTR
entertain with some mass steps.
All the songs sounded like previous Thaman
songs right from KICK movie. The orchestrisation was similar in all the songs. ‘Banthi poola janaki’ looked good on the
screen and “Sairo Sairo” is okay with NTR dances. The background score was okay
in the second half with “Raamjiii” sounding in the background.
NTR
was okay in the role of Rama Rao but the don character didn’t suit him much.
His one- liners appeared as if they were inserted forcibly even though the
situation doesn’t demand. His episodes in the combination of Brahmi worked well
in the second half. His dances imitating his grand Father sr. NTR in the
Sangeeth episode will surely be loved by fans and masses. NTR tried out
Telangana slang a bit it was okay and a relief. Kajal is okay, she looked
active and her comedy timing improved a bit. “Banthi” philosophy is okay initially but it appeared dragging and
boring when repeated. Ritu varma(short Film ‘Anukokunda’ fame) played the role
of Kajal’s sister and she is okay. M.S.Narayana is okay as Revenge Nageswarao and
his satirical dialogues remind us RGV, Rajamouli and Boyapati Seenu. Brahmanandam
as Padmanabha Simha is a major asset for the film. His scenes with NTR and Nasser
are rib-tickling. Nassar and brahmi scenes worked very well. The dream concept
(INCEPTION) worked well and Brahmanandam has done 100% justice to the role. Suhasini,
Mukhesh rishi, Ashishvidyarthi, Shayaji Shinde, Naga babu, Navadeep and the
remaining cast filled the screen.
Srinu Vatila has repeated the same
technical team of Dookudu for Baadshah starting from music, story &
screenplay writers, cinematographer and editor. In addition to
K.V.Guhan(cinematographer) other cinematographers( I Andrew, RD Rajasekhar,
Jayanan Vincent) too helped in few episodes. Srinu vaitla has mixed all his
previous films like Ready, Dhee, King, Don Seenu, Namo Venkatesa and Dookudu
and churned out a clumsy and confusing weak story line which was supported by
huge star cast. So the movie has the same look and feel. In the technical
departments cinematography was okay in few episodes but it looked inconsistent.
Art work is okay and the editing is neat. The star cast is very huge if you
blink your eyes you may miss some (Master Bharath, Thagubothu Rramesh). The
production values are very grand and Bandla Ganesh should be commended for
investing huge budget believing srinu vaitla blindly.
The script
work was done by Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan. They concentrated on the confusion
plots which revolve around making a comedian fool with a concept (dream concept
here; Reality show in Dookudu). The story is simple and wafer thin. They made
it large by incorporating many confusing threads and finally made a mess. The
comedy episodes worked well in the second half and saved the flick. Few punch
dialogues by NTR are
“Baadshah
decide ayithey war one side ayipoddi” (It was used too many times)
“Baadshah
ni touch chesthe sound solid ga vuntadhi”
“Brathakaalante
Baadshah kinda undaali… Chaavalante Baadshah mundhundali”
“Bhayapade
vadu baanisa ….Bhayapette vadu Baadshah”
“Maa
Thaatha Naku ee Peru pettindi chacchaka Samadhi meeda rayataki kaadu Charitralo
rayataki”
“Baadshah
is more dangerous than danger"
NTR dialogue on today’s girls was well received by
the Audience.
There is no emotional content where the Audience can connect. The first
half is very weak with boring thread of kajal and NTR and with Baadshah
flashback episodes in the middle. The flash back episode did not have a strong
impact. Siddhartha episode was very brief enough but at least tried to
establish a link between the present and the past. Only Brahmanandam saved this
weak storyline and clumsy screenplay written movie with hilarious entertaining
track and performance. The movie lacked
proper romantic track between the lead pair. Kajal dominated in the first half
with her Banthi concept and NTR tried to deliver punches/satires which looked
very artificial.
The movie is a treat to the fans. We have to wait
for the response of the common Audience whether they are in a state to get
entertained, irrespective of the repetitive scenes and characterizations or
not. Masses may like Brahmanandam’s hilarious episodes.
